What are health care/sports wearable devices? : WTI is also aggressive for these areas

This time, I will talk about wearable devices for healthcare/sports.

With the rise in health consciousness and the development of sensors, materials, and information technology, the development and commercialization of wearable devices has become more active. Wearable devices first became popular in Europe and the United States, and then quickly became popular in Japan as well.

A wearable device is defined here as anything that can be worn as clothing, accessories, implants, etc. and has wireless functions.

There are many different types of health care/sports wearable devices, including activity monitors, smart watches and biometric sensors.

Healthcare/sports wearable devices are mostly used to measure basic data such as steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, sleep meter, heart rate, electrocardiogram (ECG), blood pressure, and body temperature. One of the most advanced consumer healthcare/sports wearable devices is the ECG monitor.

By collecting and analyzing these data, you can gain insights and advice on managing your health, your fitness, and progress in your sports skills.

Moreover, healthcare wearable devices are now in the spotlight as a healthcare tool for medical research. For example, attempts are being made to detect and notify a person of atrial fibrillation based on heart rate information, and to monitor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease based on body movements.

As healthcare/sports wearable devices become more sophisticated, they will be able to also be used for therapeutic purposes.


Users will not only see the data from the wearable device, but they will also be able to share the data with their physicians, allowing them to determine how their patients’ daily activities are affecting their blood pressure.

WTI is increasingly receiving requests to develop and design wearable devices, including them for healthcare and sports.

The level of development is often challenging because the development is ahead of the near future, and it is a great stimulus for us to be able to support development in these areas.

For example, since it is something that people attach to the body, it needs to be small and light, and it also needs to prevent perspiration from penetrating (waterproof). Firm vibration resistance is also essential for devices that are used for running and other physical activities.

Furthermore, if it’s something you’ll attach to the body every day, it has to be cool and cute.
